On Tuesday, Maurice Thompson of the Ohio 1851 Center for Constitutional Law filed a lawsuit for a “writ of mandamus and prohibition” related to the legal legitimacy of the Ohio Controlling Board using administrative means to achieve Obamacare Medicaid expansion in Ohio. Gongwer reports that the Ohio Controlling Board has approved Governor Kasich’s multi-billion dollar request to appropriate funds to expand Medicaid in Ohio. The Board approved the request with a 5-2 vote, Senator Chris Widener and Representative Ross McGregor voting with the two democrats on the panel and the Kasich appointee who serves as the Board’s President. Breaking News: On Monday, October 21st, the Ohio Controlling Board is scheduled to vote on Governor John Kasich’s recommendation to implement Obamacare Medicaid expansion in our state “without legislative approval.” The Cincinnati Enquirer is now reporting that, Ohio House Speaker Bill Batchelder (R), “…is expected to replace the two House members on the (Ohio Controlling Board) with substitutes.
