Local Ohio Republican Leader Abandons Kasich Over His Executive Power Grab for Medicaid Expansion
With permission from the author, Robert Bodi, President of the Westlake Republicans club, we are posting this email exchange between he and Nicole Kostura, Northeast Ohio Regional Liaison for Governor John Kasich. In his letter, Mr. Bodi, who once “had high hopes for the Kasich administration” and was a “very vocal supporter of [Kasich's] reelection” expresses his extreme discontent with Governor Kasich’s recent “outrageous power grab” to bypass the legislature and expand Medicaid via the Controlling Board. The Board approved the request with a 5-2 vote, Senator Chris Widener and Representative Ross McGregor voting with the two democrats on the panel and the Kasich appointee who serves as the Board’s President. Representatives Amstutz and Rosenberger were removed from the Board by Speaker Batchelder earlier in the day in order, perhaps, […]

Breaking News: On Monday, October 21st, the Ohio Controlling Board is scheduled to vote on Governor John Kasich’s recommendation to implement Obamacare Medicaid expansion in our state “without legislative approval.” The Cincinnati Enquirer is now reporting that, Ohio House Speaker Bill Batchelder (R), “…is expected to replace the two House members on the (Ohio Controlling Board) with substitutes.
